The Founder of FUNIC Cameroon recognized as Entrepreneurial Woman of the year 2020

Douala- The founder and Chair of Fotabe University of Cameroon receives award of Female Entrepreneur of the year 2020 !

During a colorful ceremony organized by the Pan African media platform ArreyB Media in Douala-Cameroon on the 18th of November 2020, Mme Fotabe Elmine Emerged winner of this category which had nominees from Cameroon, Rwanda and Zambia

This award comes as recognition for her work in Education, youth Entrepreneurial Leadership, and Women Financial Empowerment through her institutions and organizations including:

  • Fotabe Universal Higher Institute of Cameroon in Buea
  • Fotabe Entrepreneurial Leadership Academy(FELA) in Buea and Douala.
  • FUNIC Cameroon Higher Institute of Entrepreneurship and Technology in Douala
  • Makeit.cm- an online learning platform 
  • The Association for the promotion of decent work for women and Girls.

Through these organizations, Mme Fotabe has designed innovative programs such as the annual Entrepreneurial Leadership forum that brings together 100 high school students from across the country, who are given career, academic, leadership and Entrepreneurship orientation for 3 days. They are lodged, fed, and trained by FELA.

She has also impacted the lives of hundreds of young Cameroonians through her Agricultural Entrepreneurship Community Program -AGREC, which provides tuition -Free training on the Transformation of Agricultural produce in a bid to reduce waste, create income generating opportunities for young people, and contribute to the economic development and peace in her country. Students have been able to transform ginger into tea, tomatoes into paste, pepper into oil sauce sold in supermarkets etc.

In 2014, she launched the Founder’s Banknote Challenge program, which is aimed at encouraging young people to start campus businesses and grow them. She provides them with a single Banknote of 10,000XAF each and provides coaching on the setup of small businesses. The results have been tremendous small businesses grown to the extent of providing finances to young people to enable them go through school.

In 2019, she launched a social Entrepreneurship Program for people with Disabilities. This program trains people with Disabilities and funds small businesses to enable them live dignified lives.

Through her Association, Fotabe Elmine trains women’s groups on income generation and provides seed funding through a unique Rotating Savings and Credit scheme.

She also advocates for Decent work for women and Girls by standing against illegal emigration and the exploitation of domestic workers.

Fotabe Elmine has also trained many SME personnel across the country on Customer service, HR practices, Team Building and more. She has also recruited staff for employers accross the country.

Some of the companies she has served as consultant or corporate trainer include NFC Bank, CamCCUL, UNICS PLC, Credit Unions across the South West AND North West Regions of Cameroon, PresPrint, Mukete Estates Ltd, Chariot Hotel Buea, Quinnick Scandinavia Hotel in Limbe and many startups.

She is the Cameroon representative of Rome Business School Italy and EMAS Business School, Russia, two institutions which have trained hundreds of Cameroonians in Business and Managerial disciplines at the MBA level.

Mme Fotabe Elmine clearly deserves to be named Entrepreneurial Woman of the year 2020.
